Kayla Ankeny Allamou
Kayla’s style of teaching has been greatly influenced by her eclectic background. At the age of 14, she stumbled upon a Yoga VHS and began practicing after school in her mother’s living room. She was hooked. Her somatic studies expanded as she began training Capoeira and dance in 2005. Fascinated by the intricacies of the human body, Kayla trained in Massage Therapy at the Massage Arts Center of Philadelphia in 2007(LMT). In 2009, she completed her Yoga Teacher Training at Dhyana Yoga in Philadelphia (200 RYT). Kayla studied Puppetry, Dance, and the intersection of art and politics at Sarah Lawrence College, and earned her BFA in Dance with a minor in French from Temple University in 2012. In 2014, Kayla became a level 1 AIR Yogalates trainer (Aerial Yoga) and is an AcroYoga JAMbassador. Kayla (aka Estagiaria Meia Noite of ASCAB Capoeira) is also a capoeira teacher. In 2017, Kayla completed her 450 hour Pilates teacher training with her teacher, Jennifer Morley at the Pilates studio at Drexel University , and had the joy of continuing her yoga studies with Alex Auder‘s 75 hour advanced teacher training program in 2016. As well as deepening her study and practice with Marni Sclaroff.
In 2013, inspired by the vibrant energy in Morocco, she decided to give life in Northern Africa a try. While living in Casablanca, Kayla focused in on her yoga practice and pedagogy. She taught Vinyasa, Pilates, Barre, Aerial Yoga, AcroYoga and Capoeira at centres throughout Casablanca. In 2016, she returned to Philadelphia with her husband and cat. While in the States, she is taking advantage of time to study with her mentors and welcomed her first child to the world.
